Liverpool Blow In £30m Chase For Ace – reports

Porto forward Jackson Martinez’s potential January move to Liverpool in January seems to have been dashed by the player’s agent, as reported by the Daily Star.

Martinez has been repeatedly chased by Premier League sides in the recent past, but Liverpool have been most highly linked with a move for the player in January.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was thought to be lining up a move for the powerful striker, with the Anfield club intending to make a £30 million bid for the forward.

However, the player’s agent, Henrique Pompeu, has denied any possibility that the Colombian international will seek a move away from Portugal, and believes he will stay at Porto throughout the January transfer window.

He said: “He is happy.

“He wants to be champion in Portugal and go far in the Champions League.

“There is plenty of talk, but he has an agreement with Porto and will respect it.

“He won’t leave in January.”

Liverpool have struggled since the start of the reason.

A clear reason behind this is the departure of Luis Suarez.

While Liverpool tried to replace him with Mario Balotelli, this has not worked, and they are now trying to sign another forward.

  1. Rodgers needs to flash his white teeth at him and remind him that if he joins Liverpool he will be able to link up with such midfield maestros like Henderson and Allen. Or link up with such class acts as Lambert. Rodgers had better remind him that he only really wants to pick his favourites and any hint of non compliance will have him frozen out like Agger, Reina and Lucas – no matter how good he is. If he remains mates with Rodgers he will get loads of games like Allen and Lovren, no matter how bad he is.
