Key Liverpool Target Told He Can Leave – reports

Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri has been told by the club’s hierarchy that he can depart from the German giants, as reported by the Daily Star.

Shaqiri was repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, with Liverpool thought to be particularly keen on his transfer.

The 23 year old Swiss winger is keen to depart Bayern in the coming months, having struggled to lock down a position in the first team since the appointment of Pep Guardiola.

While he played for a few minutes against Manchester City in midweek, it does not seem likely that this will persuade him to stay.

Manchester United have been linked with a move in recent weeks, but Liverpool are known to be particularly keen.

The Reds also have to improve their attacking options, having seen their previously impressive frontline falter this season in the face of injuries, suspensions and player sales.

Franz Beckenbauer admits Shaqiri could depart, saying: “Bayern have already given some indications to the lad.

“He can leave Bayern Munich during the winter transfer window.

“Personally, I want players who want to stay here with us, for me if a player doesn’t want to be here then it’s right he go to another club.”
