Liverpool To Lose First Team Star In January – reports

Liverpool are set to let defender Glen Johnson depart in January for a nominal fee, with AS Roma set to capture the former England international, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

His contract with the Anfield club expires at the end of the current season, and he has been unable to agree terms on a new contract.

Liverpool are not willing to keep paying his humongous pay check, and as a result, offered him a deal that included a massive 50 percent pay cut.

As a result, Johnson is set to reject that contract offer and instead make a move to Roma in January.

The Italian side, who need reinforcements to sustain their challenge for the Scudetto against the dominating Juventus, want to bring him in in January.

As a result, they will try and agree a transfer fee with Liverpool, possibly for only a nominal price, allowing him to move mid-season.
