Man Utd And Arsenal Boost As £5m Defender Handed Contract Ultimatum – reports

Manchester United and Arsenal have both been handed a huge boost in their chase for West Ham United defender Winston Reid, with the east London club giving him an ultimatum over signing a new contract, as reported by The Times.

The defender now has until the middle of January to agree terms over a new contract, or the club will be forced to sell him to one of his many suitors.

Reid has already been offered a new contract by the Hammers, worth a staggering £60,000 a week, but the New Zealand star has held out on putting pen to paper.

As a result, the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal have both been casting covetous glances at the 26 year old, with the knowledge that they could capture him for as little as £5 million.

Reid’s deal expires in the summer, and as a result, West Ham need to either agree a new deal or lose him for nothing.

They therefore will sell him if he does not agree to the new contract.
