Rock Solid Defender Denies Interest In Arsenal Or Man Utd Switch

Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar has denied the increased speculation over a possible January move to Arsenal or Manchester United, as reported by the Daily Express.

The Villa skipper’s contract expires at the end of the season, but it now seems as though talks are underway to renew his deal before the winter window comes around.

His imminent contract expiry means that both the Gunners and Man Utd had earmarked the Dutch defender as a possible cut price addition in January, given the fact that both clubs have suffered an incredible spate of injuries to their back line since the start of the new campaign.

Both teams believes that Vlaar would be available for far less than his true market value, and were keen to bid.

However, Vlaar himself has denied that there is anything to be said about a possible move elsewhere, and has revealed that talks are now underway about renewing his deal.

He said: “I have nothing to say [about a transfer] because there is nothing going on.

“I have spoken to the gaffer a few times [about a new dea] but that is it so far.”
