Spurs Line Up Ex-Chelsea Star To Shore Up Midfield – reports

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly lined up former Chelsea and Arsenal star Lassana Diarra in an attempt to shore up their midfield, as reported by the Daily Express.

Mauricio Pochettino saw his side collapse against Newcastle United at the weekend, falling from 1-0 up to a 2-1 loss in a painful second half for the White Hart Lane faithful.

Spurs were hit by a goal from Sami Ameobi straight after the break, with the Newcastle forward scoring only six seconds after the restart.

Pochettino is clearly therefore keen to add more steel to his midfield, and for that, seems to have targeted Diarra.

The player is a free agent, having departed Locomotiv Moscow earlier this year, and was linked with a switch back to France.

Reports in that country, however, have suggested that Spurs are also keen on a move for the 29 year old.

Spurs are supposedly in advanced negotiations for the player, but a move is reportedly unlikely, given the size of the current Tottenham squad.

This could scupper the move, unless Spurs can move other players on.

  1. Nonsense! They lost because they have no strike force. They were playing Adebayor which is the same as playing with 10 men. Yes he scored but on a perfect cross. He is not contributing. True there was a defensive let down but you don’t rebuild the midfield because of one let down. Problem is with no finisher – one can’t recover.
