Liverpool Hero Tells Man Utd Boss To Target £32M German Supremo

Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher has told Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to target Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, as reported by the Daily Star.

Man Utd have struggled defensively since the start of the new season, despite a huge outlay on talent during the summer, which saw the club spend a huge £150 million.

As a result, boss Van Gaal will almost certainly look to improve his defensive options in January, in order to fix his leaky back line.

One player that he targeted repeatedly over the summer was Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, but moves for him failed to be pushed through.

The German international has emerged as one of the world’s best defenders in recent years, and cemented this position by helping his country win the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

A move for him will almost definitely be difficult, given that Hummels has openly said that he has no interest in leaving Dortmund.

However, when asked on Twitter who Man Utd should sign in January, Carragher simply replied: “Hummels.”

Hummels is believed to be valued by Dortmund at around £32 million.
