Manchester United are reportedly lining up a £15 million January bid for Torino full back Matteo Darmian, as reported by the Daily Express.
The defender is a versatile player, who can play on either side of the back line.
Man Utd’s manager Louis van Gaal is keen to improve his options on the right flank, and Darmian would offer a better solution there than the likes of Rafael or Antonio Valencia, who has regularly filled in in that position over recent seasons.
While there have been suggestions that Man Utd have agreed a move with Barcelona defender Dani Alves, it now seems as though Van Gaal feels a need to improve imminently.
A deal for Darmian could be wrapped up in January, meaning that they wouldn’t have to wait until the end of the season, as they would with the soon to be out of contract Alves.
The Dutch manager has had Darmian watched several times this season.
