Liverpool Keen On Veteran Shot Stopper Extraordinaire – reports

Liverpool have apparently switched their goalkeeping interests to Real Madrid star Iker Casillas, as reported by fichajes.net.

Casillas is reportedly interested in departing Real during the winter window, and as a result, the Reds have identified him as a possible option to improve their goalkeeping options.

The Anfield club have been consistently linked with a move for Victor Valdes over the last few months, but the switch is contingent on Valdes recovering properly from the dehabilitating injury that he suffered towards the end of last season.

That particular fitness problem cost him a move to AS Monaco, where he was intending to move after his Barcelona contract expired.

Casillas looks set to depart Real soon after a wide ranging interview saw him criticise the club and its hierarchy.

If Liverpool cannot confirm a deal for Valdes in the near future, it seems as though they might instead turn to the Spain and Madrid captain in order to improve on current first choice Simon Mignolet, who has failed to impress since the start of the season.
