Arsenal have been targeting Colombian striker Teofilo Gutierrez, but may face a particularly difficult challenge in signing him away from Argentinian giants River Plate in the near future, as reported by fichajes.net.
The north London club are still thought to be on the lookout for new strikers, despite signing Danny Welbeck on deadline day at the beginning of September.
The former Manchester United player moved to the Emirates Stadium for £16 million, and has impressed at his new club.
There is a belief that Gutierrez is keen to move to the Premier League, with the striker seeing it as an interesting challenge.
However, River are definitely not keen to see one of their top players depart.
When asked by Gutierrez’s representatives in the summer about a possible move elsewhere, the club’s hierarchy said that the player had a key role to play in their new project.
However, Arsene Wenger could look to tempt the club into selling the 13 goal striker with the right offer.
