Liverpool To Step Up Chase Of Global Star With Medical Tests Soon

Liverpool are set to step up their chase for former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, with manager Brendan Rodgers planning to sign the goalkeeper if he can prove that he has fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered at the end of last season, as reported by the Daily Express.

Spain international Valdes is available on a free transfer, having allowed his Barcelona contract to expire at the end of last season.

Liverpool have been consistently been linked with a move for the goalkeeper since a move to AS Monaco collapsed.

The French club pulled out of an agreement shortly after Valdes suffered the injury.

It has now been reported that Valdes is set to undergo medical tests in the next few weeks, and should he pass them, Rodgers would sanction a move for the globally renowned goalkeeper.

The need for a new goalkeeper at Liverpool has become more pressing in recent weeks, with current incumbent Simon Mignolet having conceded eight goals in the last five games.
