Revealed: Arsenal Boost In Battle For £37M Midfield Bruiser

Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their chase for William Carvalho, despite the player having signed a new contract with his current club Sporting Lisbon in recent days, as reported by the Daily Express.

The north London club have been consistently linked with a move for Carvalho, who would fit perfectly into their squad, which lacks a player of his type.

Part of the linkage came as a result of a release clause built into his deal, which would allow a club to sign him for £37 million.

While Carvalho has just agreed a contract which increases his contract tenfold, the buy out clause is still written into his new deal, and therefore he can still be bought for the fixed fee.

Despite the constant speculation, Carvalho is not calling to be allowed to move, and revealed last week that he has not had his head turned.

He said: “Nobody ever heard me say I wanted to leave the Sporting or was dissatisfied. I’ve always been satisfied at Sporting.

“As things have not gone well me start this championship, people think it is because I’m upset, but they could not be more wrong.

“I want to always be right, but that’s football, sometimes things do not go on the pitch as we wish.

“I feel I can give more and can do better than last season. I know I have not been at the highest level, but eventually things will go well and I hope it will be in the next game.”

It remains to be seen if this would change should Arsenal’s interest become formal.
