Man Utd Lose Ground In Race For 20-Year-Old Spurs Target – reports

Manchester United have lost ground in the race to sign 20 year old Tottenham Hotspur target Memphis Depay, with Serie A giants Juventus said to be sounding out his availability, as reported by the Daily Star.

Depay is a highly rated young talent, who has appeared for the Dutch national side on a regular basis.

His national team coach Guus Hiddink recently suggested that Depay could develop into the best player in the national setup, which is high praise, considering the fact that the likes of Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and Robin van Persie star for the Netherlands.

Spurs were thought to be particularly keen on him during the summer, but this relied upon being able to sell Andros Townsend, which did not come to fruition.

Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal is also thought to be interested in bringing him into Old Trafford, having worked with him closely during his time in charge of the Netherlands.

Reports in Italy now suggest that Depay could instead move to Juventus, with the Italian giants having sent scouts to watch him play for PSV Eindhoven in recent weeks.
