Manchester United risk another Paul Pogba situation after it was revealed that young midfield starlet Andreas Pereira has not been offered a new deal by the Old Trafford club, as reported by the Daily Express.
Pogba has come to symbolise one of the more significant mistakes of Alex Ferguson’s later regime at the Manchester club, with a lack of first team opportunities and an undervalued contract offer combining to cause his departure and move to Serie A side Juventus.
The French international has emerged as one of the best midfielders in Europe, something that has caused incredible consternation among Man Utd fans, given their lack of quality midfielders in recent years.
Pereira was included in Louis van Gaal’s squad for the game against Queens Park Rangers, which Man Utd won 4-0.
Despite this, the club have not made any move to tie him down to another deal, despite the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season.
He said: “They haven’t contacted me yet, but Van Gaal told me to stay calm.
“He wants to give me a chance because I have plenty of talent. When he arrived at the club, I talked with him. He always does so.
“It’s not true that [he doesn’t like Brazilian players], he always treated me in a normal way.”
