Chelsea are lining up a surprise move for Everton right back Seamus Coleman, as reported by the Daily Express.

The Stamford Bridge club are intending to make a move for him next summer, with the belief that the Republic of Ireland international can become the club’s long term option on the right side of defence.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is now putting together a £20 million package to tempt the Goodison Park side into selling one of their prized assets.

Chelsea’s scouts feel as though Coleman is the right person to take over from Branislav Ivanovic in the defence, with the brutish defender never truly comfortable in the berth on the right side of defence.

While Chelsea have Cesar Azpilicueta available to them, Mourinho tends to use him on the left, meaning the west London club could do with another option for the right.

They could yet face competition from Manchester United for the 25 year old, with Coleman having supported the Old Trafford club before getting into the game.
