Arsenal Considering £2.5m Move For Elegant Portuguese Defender – reports

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is eyeing up a move for Portuguese left back Vitorino Antenus in January, with the defender available for a cut price £2.5 million, as reported by the Daily Star.

The north London club have suffered a series of injuries since the start of the season, which has depleted their already weakened defensive ranks.

As a result, the French manager is now considering a move for Antunes, who plays for Spanish side Malaga.

The La Liga club are thought to be open to hearing offers for the defender in the winter window.

With Nacho Monreal regularly forced to cover in the centre of defence, given the fact Arsenal have only two senior central defenders, Antunes might be useful backup to Kieran Gibbs.

Calum Chambers is also required to cover for the centre, but has been used in the place of Mathieu Debuchy on the right, meaning that Arsenal need more central options.
