Liverpool Line Up Stunning Swoop For £40m Arsenal Target – reports

Liverpool have reportedly reignited their interest in Arsenal target Karim Benzema, targeting the Real Madrid striker for a possible move in January, as reported by the  Daily Star.

Benzema was repeatedly suggested as a possible target for a summer move for the French international, having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona shortly after the World Cup.

Reports at the time suggested that Brendan Rodgers, who manages the Anfield club, was putting together a £40 million bid for the 26-year-old striker.

Liverpool were not, however, the only club interested in the talented forward, with Premier League rivals Arsenal also said to have eyed up the forward.

Rodgers stopped considering Benzema to be a possible target after he signed a new five year contract with Real, but with the striker supposedly unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Northern Irishman is said to be eyeing up another move.

The addition of Benzema would likely improve Liverpool’s options up front, given their struggles in the goals department since the start of the new season.
