Man Utd Set To Make Sensational Swoop For World Class Former Star – reports

Manchester United are set to line up a sensational move for their former star Gerard Pique, with the Barcelona and Spain player emerging as a possible target for a January move, as reported by the Daily Express.

The 27 year old began his storied career with the Catalan club, before leaving to join Man Utd in 2004.

He did not, however, have the best time at Old Trafford, making only 12 appearances for the club in the Premier League, despite having been personally spotted by Alex Ferguson.

Pique then earned a move back to Barcelona, signing for them in 2008 for £8 million. He has gone on to establish himself as one of the best defenders in the world.

Having won four league titles, two Copa del Reys and two Champions Leagues, he seems to have fallen away under new boss Luis Enrique.

The partnership of Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu have dominated the central roles since the start of the new season.

AS is now reporting that he might make a switch back to Man Utd in January, with Louis van Gaal targeting him.
