Man Utd Hit By Defensive Problems After Another Stalwart Takes Knock

Manchester United’s defensive issues have got worse with the injury suffered by Jonny Evans during the Old Trafford club’s 5-3 loss against Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday, as reported by the Daily Star.

With Phil Jones out injured as the result of a knock taken while on duty for England, Louis van Gaal’s defensive options are looking increasingly bleak, although it will worsen if Evans is out of action for an extended period of time.

The Northern Irish defender was pictured sitting on the bench shortly after half time with a pair of crutches and a protective device attached to his leg, suggesting the injury might be a serious one.

Van Gaal brought Chris Smalling on in Evans’s place, and Smalling himself has only just returned from an injury.

Man Utd led 3-1 going into the final third of the game against Leicester, but conceded four goals without reply to continue their questionable start to the new season.
