Reports: Arsenal To Make Shock Move For 29-Year-Old Former Star

Arsenal are reportedly planning a shock move for former star Lassana Diarra, who has also played for Chelsea and Real Madrid in recent seasons, after Arsene Wenger saw his midfield collapse against Borussia Dortmund this week in the Champions League, as reported by the Daily Express.

The 29 year old player is a free agent after being released by Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia at the end of last season, and he is keen to find another club. Diarra still retains hopes of being called up for the French national side again.

Wenger is thought to be keen on signing another midfielder, given his side’s 2-0 defeat against Dortmund on Tuesday.

The club lack a natural holding midfielder, and Mikel Arteta came under significant criticism after being played in that role. Despite that not being his position, he is Arsenal’s best option in that role.

Diarra made only seven appearances for Arsenal during his single season with them, but it seems Wenger might now be bringing him back, especially given his ability to play at right back, given Mathieu Debuchy’s injury.
