Manchester United and Chelsea have received a huge boost in their chase for Cristiano Ronaldo, after it was revealed by sources in Spain that the Real Madrid star wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, as reported by the Daily Star.
The Portuguese international has reportedly fallen out of love with playing for the Spanish giants.
The Ballon d’Or winner is now set to stay at Real for the remainder of the current season, before departing to move elsewhere in Europe.
His former club, Man Utd, are reportedly very keen on being his destination, and the Manchester club have a first option on the player as part of the agreement that took him to Spain in the first place.
They have reportedly put aside £60m to sign him.
Chelsea are also said to be keen, although Jose Mourinho has denied any links to the player.
Ronaldo is said to be upset as his salary, which sees him earn far less than recent Man Utd acquisitions despite the club not being in the Champions League.
The Premier League side could face competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain for Ronaldo’s signature, however.
