Liverpool Boss Denies Any Interest In 3-Time CL Winner

Despite the club being frequently linked with a move, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has denied that former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is on the cusp of a move to the Anfield club, as reported by the Daily Star.

There have been constant suggestions that the Spanish international, who won three Champions League trophies while playing for the Catalan giants, would be joining Liverpool on a free transfer once he managed to prove his fitness.

According to Rodgers, however, this is not the case, and there is no agreement in place between his club and the wildly successful goalkeeper, who has also won the league three times in Spain.

When asked about a move for Valdes, he said: “First I’ve heard of it.”

Valdes was thought to be an ideal signing to help push Simon Mignolet, with only Brad Jones currently available in reserve to Rodgers.

This would not be the first time this season that Rodgers has denied a deal before it happening, with the manager having done the same for Balotelli.
