£16m Double Goal Sensation To Start? How Arsenal Should Line Up Vs Man City

Arsenal face their first stern test of the season today as Manchester City travel to the Emirates Stadium, but with two struggled draws against Everton and Leicester City, manager Arsene Wenger will be tempted to change up the formula ahead of the clash.

The addition of Danny Welbeck to the side gives them a new option up front, and one who can run onto the opportunities crafted by the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez behind him. Due to the injury suffered by Olivier Giroud, he will almost certainly start for his new side, and the fans will be hoping he can match up to his display for England on Monday last week.

The injury suffered by Aaron Ramsey while playing for Wales means that Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere will play in midfield, although Ramsey could yet start if he has proven his fitness in training.

A defence of Mathieu Debuchy, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs also seems likely, with Wenger finally having his full range of defenders available to him. Calum Chambers has impressed, but a tough game of this sort is not the place to risk a young defender who is still finding his way at a new club, and generally in a new position too.

Despite David Ospina finally regaining his fitness, Wojciech Szczesny will almost certainly start. Ospina is likely to gain more opportunities as Arsenal enter the cup competitions, with a chance of taking the Polish goalkeeper’s place away from him.
