Chelsea To Do Battle For 31-Year-Old Ex-Liverpool Star – reports

Former Liverpool star Alvaro Arbeloa is set to leave Real Madrid in January, having lost his place to youngster Dani Carvajal, and Chelsea are one of several clubs reportedly keen on bringing him to the Premier League as a result, as reported by the Daily Express.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that Real are on the cusp of putting together a new deal to keep Carvajal at the club for a longer period of time, and with Arbeloa having lost his place in the side to the 22-year-old, he will be allowed to leave.

Along with Chelsea, Arsenal are also said to be interested in bringing the highly experienced defender in.

However, Jose Mourinho has worked with Arbeloa before, and it is said that the Spanish defender would be keen to work with him again.

Arbeloa was part of the Madrid squad that won the Champions League and the Copa del Rey last season, with Carlo Ancelotti performing well in his first season at the Spanish giants.
