Manchester United could replace Louis van Gaal with German manager Jurgen Klopp in 2018, with his current side, Borussia Dortmund, expecting to face a parting of the ways with the talented young manager at the end of his tenth season in charge of the side, as reported by The Metro.
With a limitation on what can be achieved at Dortmund, the German club are already bracing for Klopp’s departure when his current contract expires at the end of 2018.
Despite interest from many of the top clubs in Europe, Klopp is thought to favour a move to Old Trafford, and with Van Gaal only ever expected to be a short term solution to a problem, Klopp would be considered the ideal appointment.
It could still be difficult to get Klopp to leave Dortmund, with the manager repeatedly insisting that he has no interest in moving elsewhere any time soon. He was thought to be one of Man Utd’s targets prior to Van Gaal’s appointment this summer.
