Former PL Striker Craves English Move After Collapse Of Arsenal Deal

Nikola Zigic, who played for Birmingham City until this summer, when his contract with the Midlands club expired, has declared his desire for a move to another English side.

The striker had recently claimed that he received interest from Arsenal in the dying embers of the transfer window, as reported by Inside Futbol.

The suggestion was that the Emirates Stadium club had been interested in him as an option until the move for Danny Welbeck from Manchester United for £16 million was confirmed, giving Arsene Wenger’s side another option in the wake of Olivier Giroud’s unfortunate long term injury.

Zigic said last week: “We talked with them until the last days of the market.

“I am very happy because Arsenal had me on their list. I would have liked it.

“But big teams always consider several alternatives.”

He is now, however, keen on a move to another English club, despite his struggles with Birmingham City. Italian news source Tutto Mercato have said that the gigantic striker, who stands at 6 foot 7 1/2 inches, would prefer a move to the Premier League, although given his lack of success in the Championship with Birmingham, this would be something of a surprise.

Zigic added: “I am still looking [at] options.

“We’re talking to several clubs and I think we will make a decision soon.”
