Young midfielder Davide Petrucci has officially left Manchester United, opting to move to CFR Cluj on a one year deal instead, as reported by the Old Trafford club’s official Twitter account.
Buona fortuna to Italian midfielder Davide Petrucci as he leaves #mufc by mutual consent. He’s joining CFR Cluj in Romania as a free agent.

The 22 year old has struggled to make an impact at the Premier League side since moving there from Roma in 2008. He failed to make a single appearance for the club, despite them making a significant effort to bring him in in the first place, going as far as to offer his father a job and offering the player regular flights back to Italy in order to join.
His move was probably decided by money, in the first instance. Roma only offered him £16,000 per annum, whereas Man Utd were willing to pay him £95,000 a year. The Italian club soon claimed that Man Utd had stolen Petrucci from them.
Petrucci’s time in England also saw him undertake forgettable loan spells at Peterborough United, Royal Antwerp and Charlton Athletic.
The Italian was named in Man Utd’s 25-man Premier League squad shortly before his departure.
