Liverpool Hero Set To Depart Anfield – Reports

Daniel Agger is reportedly on the cusp of a move back to his homeland of Denmark, with the defensive stalwart set to join Brondby, as reported by Tony Barrett of The Times.

Agger featured regularly for Liverpool last season as they struggled to put together a consistently successful defence, but had his place taken by Mamadou Sakho after the French international returned from an extended lay-off.

The Danish defender has looked increasingly unsettled as the summer wore on, and came to define his future by the extent to which he would be guaranteed first team football going forward. When it became clear that Rodgers preferred the likes of Martin Skrtel, the aforementioned Sakho, and new signing Dejan Lovren to Agger, it seemed almost inevitable that he would depart.

It is something of a surprise that he has moved to a side of Brondby’s size, but it seems relatively clear he feels there is no future left for him at Anfield.
