Mattia Destro’s agent has said that Chelsea are interested in a move for Italian sensation Mattia Destro, although a move for the Roma striker could prove unlikely, as reported by ITV Sport.
While there have been suggestions that Destro could move to Stamford Bridge as part of a swap deal to take Fernando Torres to the Stadio Olimpico, the agent denies that that is the case.
He also said Destro was keen to stay in Rome.
He did, however, admit that Chelsea have previously expressed an interest in signing Destro.
Destro’s agent said: “It’s true that Chelsea are interested in Mattia.
“But the reports regarding a swap deal have no foundation, it’s all speculation.
“Roma don’t want to sell Mattia and Mattia prefers to remain at Roma.”
Roma are not keen to lose the striker, however, and understandably: the 23-year-old was their top scorer last season, bagging 13 league goals as the Rome side finished second in Serie A, securing Champions League football in the process.
Destro has often been regarded as a top prospect in Italian football, but initially struggled for form after his move from Genoa in 2012. Last season, however, he hit the heights expected of him, alerting top clubs to his renewed talent.
