Hockaday: Leeds Wonderkid Will Remain At Elland Road

Leeds United head coach David Hockaday has said that Sam Byram is set to stay at Elland Road for the coming season, with the news about the talented young player reported by Adam Pope of BBC Radio Leeds.

Byram had been the subject of Premier League interest in recent weeks, with suggestions that he could be keen to depart to a side in the top flight. Sunderland emerged as a likely destination, with Byram reportedly not keen on a switch to Southampton, who had made an official approach to the Yorkshire club for his services.

The right back burst on to the scene at Elland Road two seasons ago, winning the Young Player of the Year award in 2012/13. He was hit by injury last season and struggled for games, but has started the new year in top form.

Leeds earned their first three points of the new campaign with a win against Middlesbrough at the weekend, with Billy Sharp scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory.
