Leeds Owner Cellino Confirms Capture Of £4 Million Man

Frederik Sorensen

According to Massimo Cellino, owner of Leeds United, the Yorkshire club have confirmed the signing of Frederik Sorensen from Juventus on an initial season long loan, as reported by Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Sorensen will arrive at the club on loan, with Leeds paying Juventus £500,000 for the privilege. The club also hold an option to make Sorensen’s move permanent next summer for £3.5 million, which would represent the highest transfer fee Leeds have paid since being relegated from the Premier League by a significant distance.

The Danish defender comes to Elland Road after spending two years at Bologna under a co-ownership agreement with the Old Lady of Turin. Sorensen had a disappointing season with Bologna last year, playing far fewer games than the year before, and will be looking to reestablish himself after failing to impose himself significantly since moving to Juventus.

Sorensen would be Leeds’s second signing in two days, after the club confirmed the capture of Nicky Ajose from Peterborough, with the former Manchester United trainee joining Leeds for a reported fee of £150,000.
