Liverpool Creative Starlet In Talks Over New Contract

Liverpool and Suso are underway with discussions over a new deal at the club, according to the Spanish youngster himself, with quotes reported by the Liverpool Echo.

He said: “We are talking with the club already.

“Hopefully I will sign a new contract soon. I want to stay here.”

The 20-year-old announced he would be staying at Liverpool this season despite having only a year to run on his deal. He spent last season on loan with Almeria in his homeland of Spain.

The young talent has been granted opportunities to impress during pre-season so far, and he is desperate to demonstrate to Brendan Rodgers that he deserves a role going forward on Merseyside.

Suso added: “I wanted to go on loan because at my age I felt I needed to play every week and feel important to a club.

“I played nearly every game and helped Almeria stay up. I was lucky enough to play against Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but the most important thing is that I learned a lot and became a better player.

“That was vital as now I’m back fighting for places with the best players in the Premier League.

“It’s a good challenge for me to prove I can be here and I can play for this team.

“I probably feel most comfortable in a central role behind the striker but I can also play on the right – I just want to play.”

Having began his career with Cadiz, Suso joined Liverpool’s academy in 2010, turning down Barcelona and Real Madrid in order to sign for the Anfield club.

He has gone on to make 14 appearances for Liverpool, but has seen very little consistent action. His loan spell at Almeria saw him play 33 games, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in La Liga. He has also made 5 appearances for the Spain Under-21 side.
