Arsenal Prepare €20 Million Move For Brazilian Midfield Dynamo

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Douglas Costa, who wants a move away from the club as a result of the unrest currently plaguing the eastern European nation, according to Inside Futbol.

Costa is one of a group of players who went absent without leave after the Ukranian side played a pre-season friendly in France. While the club agreed to move their training base to the capital city Kyiv and play their games at the Arena Lviv, there is still considerable unrest among their foreign contingent.

Only midfielder Fred has returned of those who questioned their safety. The rest have been questioned by the club, with a belief that they are simply trying to force moves to other sides.

Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur has suggested that Arsenal are looking to take advantage of the situation, and are putting together a €20 million bid to see if Shakhtar are willing to sell one of their star players. They signed Douglas for only €6 million from Gremio in 2010.

He has made 121 appearances for the Ukranian side since joining, scoring 25 goals in the process, and they have won five league titles since his arrival.
