Manchester United Make Bid for Swiss International World Cup Maestro

The German local daily Wolfsburger Allgemeine is reporting that Manchester United have made a bid for Swiss international left-back Ricardo Rodriguez.

The 21-year-old impressed significantly at this summer’s World Cup, forming an integral part of a side that managed to emerge from their group and reach the round of 16. Rodriguez has previously been linked to Liverpool, but it now looks as though the Old Trafford club have stolen a march on their rivals for the signature of the incredibly talented defender.

Manchester United are looking to rebuild this summer after the failure of last season, in which newly appointed manager David Moyes steered the previous season’s champions to a seventh place finish. He was later sacked, before being replaced on a temporary basis by Ryan Giggs. Louis van Gaal has since taken charge at the club.

The Dutch coach has already signed a left-back since taking the role, former Southmapton man Luke Shaw. He now seems keen to add further reinforcements in that role.

  1. Good Player ,but so is Hummels, De Vrij, Jaanmat,Blind and Shaw…..That leaves Smalling and Jones under pressure.I agree with Roy Keane on those two…..They have got worse….Moyes ruined the fitness of several players last year including Rio, Vida,Raphael and Evans. But the year before Evans was standout of the centre halves.I hope that Raphael and Evans get their chance, but Varella and Yanko are two good players as well…..
