Leeds United Star Hands In Transfer Request

Ross McCormack has handed in a transfer request to Leeds United, according to Sky Sports News.

This comes as little surprise after days of speculation in the press that he is going to leave the club this summer. The Scotland international scored 29 goals in the league last season, and has been drawing interest from the likes of recently relegated Fulham in the past few weeks.

This news will come as a disappointment to many Leeds fans, with McCormack representing the club on and off the pitch almost singlehandedly in recent months. Deadline day in January saw the captain come out in support of Brian McDermott, who was later sacked (before being rehired and sacked again), as communication from the club broke down and Massimo Cellino agreed a deal in principle to purchase the Elland Road side.

He has been a star of a side that has struggled in recent years, with Leeds flirting with relegation over the course of the last two seasons. His departure will not encourage fans who have become fearful of a third relegation battle.
