Chelsea’s Courtois: “I have spoken to Mourinho”

@awinehouse1

Thibaut Courtois has had an exceptional season for Atletico, but remains unsure as to where his future lies. Undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in world football today, he does not seem keen to return to Chelsea next season only to play the part of understudy to Petr Cech.

However, in an interview with the Belgian football magazine La Derniere Heure, he revealed that prior to the Barcelona game he was called by Jose Mourinho.

He said: “My future seemed clear, but then we faced Chelsea in the Champions League. Yes, Mourinho called me before the game against Barcelona (that decided the league title, giving it to Atletico), but what we discussed will remain private.

“I still have two years remaining on my deal with Chelsea, and in principle, I will join in pre-season training and see what happens from there.

“Now is not the time to discuss any sort of transfer – I am focussed on the World Cup, which is at stake.”
