Laudrup: Michu will not leave Swansea in January

Ahead of his side’s third round FA Cup tie against Arsenal, Michael Laudrup has moved to reassure Swans fans that the prolific Michu will not be sold in January.

Laudrup was extreme in his point, saying that “There is no way he will leave,” and then pointing out that the idea “is absolutely out of the question.” Laudrup pointed to the often held suggestion that it would be impossible to replace a player like Michu in January, and, furthermore, “that [Michu] is happy here and doesn’t want to leave”.

This will come as a welcome note to Swansea fans, who would be loath to see their top-scorer leave so soon into what has been an exceptional Premier League debut campaign. The former Real Oviedo man has scored 13 goals in 20 league appearances so far this season, after signing for a cut-price £2 million.

Laudrup added that Michu was always keen to play, and he would not seek to deny him that, adding “If he is fit, then he will play”.
